#1 Sign

Here is the Number One Sign that you need to re-clarify the similarities between adopted and birth children:

When your 5 year old sits next to an adult visitor at church and promptly asks him,

“Did you come from a belly?”

Well, Kevin. As a matter of fact, we ALL came from bellies. Time to have another one of those conversations! 🙂 I am sure many of you have similar stories to share!

Make me laugh harder! If you asked our first adopted where “babies come from” she would have said ‘Airplanes” – at least ‘back in the day’! 😉

Oh Laine… he is too cute! My kiddos have very similar questions. They just can’t seem to grasp that they came from someone else’s belly, so I think they just imagine they didn’t come from a belly at all 😉 Yes, those conversations need to be had over and over again!

For a long time, my oldest daughter thought ALL babies came from China. When she learned her daycare provider was preganant, she asked when Erika was going to China to get her baby!

Your post made me smile! We are in the process of adopting and the other day my 5 year old kept asking me about the mom of the child we are adopting. He didn’t understand no matter how much I tried to explain to him about our babies mom and now this would be our baby. I am on the way to the book store to pick up books on adoption.
