Lloyd – Born March 2007

At the age of 3 years, Lloyd was placed with a foster family and started attending the preschool nearby. He quickly adapted to the family environment and gets along with his family members. Now he can go upstairs and downstairs alone, can run and jump freely, and can understand the words of others. He likes to help his foster family and he can put on his own clothes and go to the bathroom independently. He likes to play with puzzles, play games, and play with toys. Usually he is not talkative, but he has a ready smile. In a strange environment or in front of strangers, he speaks in a low voice, but after being familiar with people or the environment, he becomes more active, speaks clearly and uses a high voice. Lloyd is diagnosed with beta thalassemia.

Melody- Born May 2004

Melody does not have good motion development and her mental development is delayed. She was admitted to the orphanage at 5 years old. At that time, she could sit, stand, and walk alone. After she got comfortable with her new surroundings, she was polite and could get along well with people. At the age of 6 years, she could go up and down stairs holding onto something and could pick her favorite toys, but her language development was delayed. She could greet adults positively. At the age of 8 years, her motion of both upper limbs was not good and her walking position was not normal. She could wash her hands, could put on and take off her clothes independently, and could button and unbutton. She is now receiving special education in the center, can recognize common colors and shapes, can participate in some simple activities with kids, and can read some short children’s songs with teachers and friends, but she cannot read alone. Melody is gentle and shy, can get along well with others, and is very happy when playing games with children. Occasionally she is obstinate. She likes to share toys and food with the other children. Her special needs are delayed mental development; possible congenital dysplasia; Hypochromic microcytic anemia, possible thalassemia or iron deficiency anemia.

Keaton- Born January 2004

Keaton -9.5 year old boy

Keaton is 9 years old, has thalassemia and dental caries. Keaton is described by his caregivers as a smart, lovely boy. Keaton is an extrovert and gets along well with other kids. He enjoys playing games, watching cartoons and playing with cars. Keaton is very helpful and enjoys taking care of the younger children living with him. This sweet boy has expressed a desire for a mother and father who will love him forever.

Miles- June 2002

Miles -11 year old boy

This handsome little boy is described to be active and outgoing. Miles enjoys music and can sing some popular Chinese songs. He also enjoys drawing, reading cartoons and riding three wheeled bikes. Miles has Thalassemia and is currently receiving treatment approximately every month. He is able to adapt to new environments and has attached well with his caregivers. This charming little boy is ready and waiting for a family to call his own.
