Find My Family: Davie

Update: My Family has found me!

Sweet Davie is almost two years old. He was born May of 2012.

Being cute isn’t enough for this toddler … he has to be smart and sweet as well!

Abandoned at birth and longing for affection and a family of his own, this baby boy is doing well physically since being found at birth and placed in the orphanage. At 18 months of age, he could walk alone, play ball with other children and enjoyed books. His early diagnosis of hearing loss in both ears doesn’t keep him from enjoying his life.

He loves to play hide and seek, and when someone walks by him he will reach out his hands to ask for a cuddle. Growth and development are considered normal for his age, and an adoptive family who feels equipped to care for a deaf child would find him a shy but loving child.

Update from someone who met Davie last week: “He is precious, just precious. I saw him just last week and got updated photos and a short video clip. He seems to have deep grief/sadness, although he does love peekaboo with the ayis. He’s been at the SWI less than a year (as opposed to the paperwork), and I have to think this may have played into his physical manifestation of being deaf/hoh. It has been changed to the ayis’ surprise, as while we were there last week, he spoke his first word when he called “ayi!” They were shocked. So…as with so many referrals, take the Dx with a grain of salt. A lot can happen in a child’s development during the time the referral paperwork is sent and when it’s received by families. My greatest wish is that a mama will find him and will make him smile again.

He’s been in our Open Arms nurture program since a month after he arrived, so we’ve gotten quarterly reports and two photos/mo. since that time, and those files will be available to his family after adoption. You can contact me here.”
