Regis, born December 2009, is a sweet boy, who was a little overwhelmed by the attention when agency staff saw him on a trip, and seemed relieved when he could go play again.
Caregivers say sometimes he is quiet, and sometimes he is more talkative. He is diagnosed with thalassemia, and receives monthly transfusions. They report he does very well when he goes to his appointments, and just holds his arm out very bravely. He is not too active; caregivers say he seems to know when he needs to slow down, though we do have video of him climbing on the playground and he doesn’t appear weak.
He is said to be cognitively on target, and can count and sing. His self-care is good, he can feed himself and use the restroom alone. He is a thoughtful and sensible little boy, who will help his caregivers by taking out the trash, and shares his snacks with other kids. When a younger child has a runny nose he will help them wipe it. He likes to play with toys and do chasing games with other kids, and he quite enjoyed the rocking horse in the room where our staff met him.
