Urgent Medical Need: Everett

January 10, 2015 Family Found 9 Comments

Everett is a ten year old boy diagnosed with thalassemia who is waiting for a family of his own. His file is on the shared list so he can be pursued by a family or single woman working with any agency. It is very important that Everett is adopted as he is dependent on blood transfusions for survival. His area of China currently suffers from a critical shortage of blood products. His life expectancy, should he remain an orphan in China, is poor.

Everett is an amazing boy, when he was placed with a foster family of his own it said he felt “superiority in his heart. ” He is well liked and is doing very well in school. He receives blood transfusions and hopes to have a family of his own one day.

Why oh why is it so costly to adopt? We have two kids home and would welcome more but it is far too costly. We would be able to provide medical care and a loving home. It’s so sad to see these posts. We would be able to get to China and bring a child home but costs of $40,000 plus are too much.

Actually if you use a less expensive agency you can do it for under 30,000. We came home in July and it cost us 28,000 and we had a matching grant and that helped bring our cost down to 20,000 and eventually the tax break will get us back a lot of that. I know it is tough and overwhelming but somehow the Lord has always made a way for us and we have never had the money in advance. Pray and see where He leads.

We, too have never had the finances ahead of time. The Lord provided for both of our adoptions. I believe He puts the desire in hearts of parents to adopt. So, if it’s on your heart to do so, I’d seriously consider praying his leading. God moves mountains for these kiddos, but needs hands and feet on the ground (us)!

Where do I find more info on this boy….is it with a specific agency? I am interested.

Hi Wilma, Everett is on the shared list so any agency with a China program can help you pursue his adoption. Look at our “Agencies” page for a list of the ones which work with China adoptions. Thank you!
