Lionel is two years old and lives in the orphanage. At approximately 6 months old, he was diagnosed with hemophilia and has been receiving treatment ever since. He is reported to currently receive two infusions per week.
He is a beautiful little boy who is described as having normal physical and mental development. He can walk alone and can go upstairs holding the wall. He can hold & use a pencil and can change his clothes. He can speak clearly. They describe him as an active and positive little boy who can sometimes be stubborn like most two year olds. He likes to play with the other children in the orphanage, listen to music, and play blocks.
There are many adoptive moms of children with hemophilia who would be happy to answer questions about this need. This little boy is at such a young age that he will do amazingly well with treatment. There are Hemophilia Treatment Centers (HTC) all over the country that specialize in getting these children the care they deserve.
Lionel has a $4000 grant for his adoption through WACAP. You can request more information by emailing WACAP.
My husband I are very interested in this little cutie! I am a mother of a 5yr old with severe hemophilia A and also had a father with it. I am on the board for our local Hemophilia chapter so I am well versed in all things Hemophilia. We would love to pursue adopting this little guy!
