Child Who Waits: Lydia

January 8, 2017 Children Who Wait 2 Comments

We had the joy and blessing of hosting 11.5 year old Lydia this Christmas. Lydia is from the Jilin province, China. She lives at a boarding school for orphans and is a great student. Lydia absolutely LOVES to read and while she was here, she read Chinese versions of Harry Potter and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and loved them. She also loves to play card games- and has obviously played card games before. We taught her Uno and Spoons and that was one of her favorite things to do. Her other interests include animals (she loved our four large dogs), playing outside (sledding, zip lining, swinging), doing puzzles and word searches, baking, and coloring.

Lydia needs to be adopted by a family that has at least one other girl her age (11-14). She is surrounded by girls her age at the school, and having 2 girls here her age really helped her and she bonded with them first. She will bond very well with her new parents, but it will take time, so be patient. By the end of the 3 weeks, she was starting to seek me out and spend time with me alone and show physical affection towards me. She is an introvert and needs time alone to recharge. She also is VERY quiet and shy- especially at first. But again, as time went on, we began to see more of her fun personality.

Lydia’s special need is repaired cleft lip and palate. She is at the stage now where she requires oral surgery and orthodontics. Other than that, she is perfectly healthy!

Having hosted her for 3 weeks, I can honestly say she will do so well in a family. Lydia only has two years to be adopted by a family before she ages out.

So if you’re done with the baby phase and want to add a precious, loving girl to your family, please contact Emily for more pictures and information.
