Waiting to be Chosen: Sean

February 12, 2017 Children Who Wait 0 Comments

We had the pleasure of hosting Sean this winter, who came from the Jilin province in China.

Sean is a very sweet, well-mannered and inquisitive boy. He is very interested in how things operate such as the washer/dryer, mixer, dishwasher, etc. He has a very relaxed personality and rarely seems upset or bored. Whatever you ask him to do, he does it. He is very compliant and likes simple tasks. His special need is repaired cleft lip and palate and possible developmental delay.

Sean likes to please and follows directions well, such as getting dressed, putting on shoes, getting in the car, using the restroom etc. He loves to eat but isn’t too fond of American food yet! Outdoor activities, errands or rides in the car are his favorite. He loved sledding, building snowmen and playing in the snow with our kids.

We had challenges with bed wetting at night but he was agreeable to wearing pull-ups. He struggled to show interest in many toys or focus on a specific activity or craft I would give him, however, he seemed more relaxed and open to things the longer he stayed with us. He entertains himself well and likes to help with whatever you’re doing.

He has a fun sense of humor and loves being active with other kids playing tag or hide and seek. He would be a great addition to a family with kids around ages 3-5. He needs direction with certain tasks but is very amenable and willing to please!
