Meet Mae!

May 22, 2018 Children Who Wait 0 Comments

Mae is a shy and reserved girl, born in May of 2010, who also has a bit of spunk! When she meets strangers, she is very observant and quiet, watching what is going on around her. When interacting with her foster family, she is active, animated, and strong-willed.

Mae has good gross motor skills and she can use a spoon and a cup to eat and drink. Mae has good self-help skills. She can put on and take off her clothes and shoes, button up or unbutton, and toilet independently.

Mae is in grade one at a local primary school. She can read pinyin and simple words, recite some poems, and do addition and subtraction facts within 10. She also can say some simple English words and sing some English songs. The teachers describe her as active, talkative, and smiley.

Mae actively greets the staff, can follow her caretaker’s instructions, and is helpful too. She gets along with and likes playing with other children and she is also respectful to her teachers at school.

Mae is diagnosed with alpha thalassemia (carrier only), very mild mitral valve regurgitation, mild tricuspid regurgitation, and post-op anoplasty for congenital anal atresia with perineal fistula.

There is a $1,000 agency grant for Mae’s adoption with Madison Adoption Associates.
Other grants may be available based on the adoptive family’s circumstances. Agency grants are awarded as agency fee reductions. MAA also partners with the Brittany’s Hope Foundation for matching grants, which are given out twice a year (January and July) and to families that are officially matched with a child.

Mae needs a family with an approved home study to be able to hold her file or move forward with adopting her. If you have an approved home study or a home study in process and are interested in adopting Mae, please fill out a free PAP Waiting Child Review Form, which can be found here.
