Miles is very small for his age, likely due to the lack of proper treatment for his Thalassemia. He does not appear to receive the needed transfusions as often as his body requires, and he is not receiving chelation meds which are vital for him. This lack of treatment is common for children with this special need who reside in orphanages in China.

Miles needs a family soon, as he will age out in June 2016 and his life expectancy is severely grim if he remains without a family. The care in the US for thalassemia is excellent and would greatly improve his quality of life. And although he likely has some damage to his body from the lack of care, some of that may be reversed once he is adopted.

He is an outgoing and very happy kid, who is helpful, and eager to learn. Miles loves to read comic books and play the guitar! He can take care of all his own needs. His cognitive, motor, and speech skills are all on target. He is just a very small boy who needs better medical care.

He is the oldest child listed with Thalassemia and urgently needs a family, his life truly depends on it.

I wish I could help, but all I can do is hope and project positivity and share. Please, somebody with the resources, help?

Will Hawaii transfer his file? We’re headed to his orphanage to bring a child home in either winter or spring of 2015/2016. I love him already!

How do we go about adopting Miles? We are older, how old is too old to be considered?
