Rachel is a beautiful little girl, born in September of 2014 with Down syndrome.
Rachel’s file is very dated, prepared when she was just a year old. At that time, she was making good eye contact, rolling over, babbling, and grasping nearby toys. She attached well to her caretakers and loved rolling from one side of the room to the other.
Rachel plays happily and loves to smile and laugh. She likes playing games and playing with blocks.
At one point, Rachel was moved to Harmony House (you must see the videos of her there). She was well loved and cared for and making great progress there. A while back, Rachel’s home province recalled all of their children in care centers back to their home orphanages. Rachel’s home orphanage doesn’t compare to the care she was receiving at Harmony.
Rachel is newly listed with Madison Adoption Associates and we know she’s seen a few of her friends from Harmony who were recalled back with her go home to their forever families.
We hope it will soon be Rachel’s turn!
Videos from Rachel’s time at Harmony can be seen here and here.
There is a $1,500 agency grant for Rachel’s adoption with Madison Adoption Associates. Other grants may be available based on the adoptive family’s circumstances. Agency grants are awarded as agency fee reductions. MAA also partners with the Brittany’s Hope Foundation for matching grants, which are given out twice a year January and July) and to families that are officially matched with a child.
Rachel needs a family with an approved home study to be able to move forward with adopting her. If you have an approved home study or a home study in process and are interested in adopting Rachel, please fill out a free PAP Waiting Child Review Form, which can be found here.
