Meet precious Nadia who is newly listed with WACAP!

Nadia was born November of 2012. Her caregivers report that she is a smart girl who expresses her own thoughts and desires. She loves to sing and knows many children’s songs. She also has two adorable dimples on either side of her smile! Her nannies say that although she’s tender and more introverted, she enjoys playing with the other kids and has positive interactions with her caregivers. With strangers, however, she becomes shy and won’t talk. Nadia sticks to her nannies when outside – she’ll hold their clothes tightly and ask to be held.

Nadia is diagnosed with spina bifida, which she had surgery for in May 2016, and she also has clubbed feet. In May of 2013, she had surgery to lengthen her Achilles tendon. Her nannies say that her movement in her lower limbs is limited but that her upper limbs move freely. Nadia can crawl and use her arms to pull herself up to a standing position, while holding the side of the bed. Her lower limbs and feet aren’t able to support her standing. She has flexible hands which can pinch and pick up small objects like pills. She can hold a pen and drawl lines and can play with toys. Her nannies feel that her delayed development is partially due to the fact that living in an orphanage, as she doesn’t get the opportunity to do sports or exercise as much as children who have families.

Caregivers report her cognitive and language abilities are typical for her age – she speaks in complete sentences and she understands and responds to her caregivers. This lovely girl has a good appetite and eats a variety of foods – her favorites though are cake and candy. Nadia’s nannies say she wishes she had the warmth of a family and they hope she’ll find one soon. She’ll need a family who can foster a sense of security and comfort for her, and who will love her unconditionally.
