June 6, 2016 Children Who Wait 0 Comments

During the month of June we are joining Bethel China in highlighting children who are available for adoption. All of these children are blind or have significant vision loss. All of them need a forever family. For more information on any of these children, please email Anna at Bethel China.

Levi is always giggling! He loves to play with his teachers, caregivers and friends. Levi came to us when he was just a little guy, and he had already had a shunt surgically implanted for his hydrocephalus. Levi loves music! He actually started singing before he learned to speak! Music makes this little guy so happy. Levi
can walk, speak, and is learning self help skills.

Trey is the newest kid on the block at Bethel! He has been with us for just a few weeks and it’s been a joy to see him bond with his caregivers and thrive in his new environment. Trey has been in foster care for his whole life, but he had never been to school. In just a few weeks, he has learned new skills like folding his clothes, how to listen and be still in class, put on and take off his shoes, and get his own water. He is learning new things every day and he is so proud of himself for each new accomplishment. Trey already loves his teacher, and he gets very excited whenever she comes into the room. He is such a loving and affectionate boy, and we would love to see him find a family.

Lizzie is a joyful ten year old who has been with us for around 4 years. She is blind but has light perception, and being in the sunshine is her favorite activity. If it’s a sunny day, you can always find her at the window making shadows in front of her face. Lizzie is on the autism spectrum, but she has improved so much. A few years ago a speech pathologist came to Bethel and began to teach and her teacher some sign language. The gift of communication opened up a new world to this sweet girl, and she can now do a lot of signs to express her needs and desires to her caregivers. Lizzie has so much love in her heart for her teachers and caregivers. She loves to be hugged and tickled and is very affectionate. We would love to see her in her own forever family!

Caleb loves with his whole heart! Caleb cares so much about his teachers and caregivers, he always notices if they miss a day or if they are sick. He loves to be a helper, and he loves doing arts and crafts. Caleb is completely blind but that doesn’t stop him from playing outside, running around, and going to school. He is in our Chipmunk Class and is learning English, which he loves. This year on Mother’s Day, he made cards for all his teachers and nannies, completely unprompted.

Charlie is a five-year-old boy who is blind. He’s been with us at Bethel for almost three years. He is very cute and funny and he likes it when grown ups play with him. His favorite game to play is hide-and-seek. He hides behind the door and giggles the whole time. It’s really cute! Charlie isn’t verbal, but he can do some signs to express his needs. Whenever he learns something new, he claps and smiles for himself.
